Maple 2

Maple 2

25% of the sale will benefit Adventure 4 Change, a hub of neighbours engaging upstream to prevail against the odds of displacement, poverty and underemployment.

Ali arrived from Eritrea two years ago, graduated grade 8 this summer and jumped into his first job on a landscaping crew. No one will forget his infectious smile when it came time to turn that key on the riding mower.

One of the greatest gifts shared at Adventure 4 Change is the joy of firsts. First time canoeing! First time reading aloud to a child! First time being heard and taken seriously and encouraged by someone other than a parent! For over 100 youth, 200 children and many mothers today, this joy paints bright pictures of tomorrow.

I dedicate “Maple” to Ali. We work this land together: may he grow strong and bring health to it.

"Maple 2" is on exhibition at Seven Shores Community Cafe in Waterloo, partially co-owned by my dear, longtime friends, Steve and Deb Tulloch. They helped form my idea of what it means to love.

We're gonna throw a party! Stop by at the cafe from September 18 to October 26 to wander the WorldRooted gallery and enjoy a delicious treat. Then, make sure to pop by on Saturday, October 26 from 6:00-9:00pm for our open house! The counter will be open, there'll be live music, and WorldRooted swag will be available to purchase. We're all excited to say hi!
